As an average of three troopships a week is now. arriving in the Dominion, together with other vessels, the supply of shipping for ordinary cargo is really much above that in pre-war times (sayß the ChristcHurch "Sun"). A good proportion of the troopships aru arriving in ballast, and this fact is causing delays here, as the dischargo of ballast, as a rule, tajtes longer than ordinary cargo. The Carpentaria. IB a case in point. She arrived in Lytteltou on Saturday stiffened with 2000 tons of aßhes, the bulk being from glass furnaces, etc. This has all to be unloaded into railway trucks. It is being dumped on the reclamation area near the docks.
