» MEETING OE THE COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of tho Petone District High School Committee was held last evening. There were present: Messrs. D. M'Kenzie (eliaiimnn), Kyle (secretary), Ash, Ashby, Silbery, Wight, and Armstrong. It was decided to send n letter of condolei.ee to the mother and relatives of tho late Dr. AL.W. Ross. " ' The Education Board advised that a conference of Hutt Valley school committees had been arranged to be held in the Council Chambers, Lower Hutt, to meet Messrs. Rishworth and London to discuss the most suitable location for a high school for the Hutt Valley.—Messrs. M'Keuzie, Kyle, and Silbery were appointed to represent. The committee at the conference. It was resolved, on the motion of the chairman, to ask the- Education Board to arrange for Dr. Ada Patterson and School Nurse Willis to visit the Petone District High School and give instruction and demorstration to the senior girls on the principles and practice of home nursing, and that each girl be supplied with'a thermometer, so that in the event of,an epidemic she would be of use to the people of her neighbourhood. The headmaster, Mr. C. N. Haslam, reported, that tho number on the roll in secondary department was 48, aiul tho nver.tgo "nttcndaiico U.
