THE MEN IN EGYPT
Sir,—ll is not surprising that tlie anxiety of parents concerning (he repatriation of their boys in Egypt is finding a vent in the columns of the Press. There has always been a feeling anions the men of thu New Zealand Mounted Brigade that they have been to some extent forgotten. We hope that this lm* not been the case, hut at any rate tlio troops will not readily forgive the callous indifference of the Now Zealand Government in leaving them to faee the privations of another hot season nearly Gi months after the signing of the armistice. The heavy death-roll consequent on the last hot season is still fresh in our minds. During their i\ years' campaign in Palestine our men have endured the frightful climatic conditions in silence. Lately the one topic in their letters has been: "Surely (hey will bring us home before ttie hot weather comes round again." That they have not been brought home is to the lusting distract! of the authorities here. Lack of boats is no excuse. When the men were ed at the front transport presented no difficulties, some of the men leaving New Zealand after seven or eight weeks in camp. The Defence authorities seem entirely oblivious to the health and welfare'of the troops in Egypt. We must appeal, therefore, to the people of ae.w Zealand to take the matter up.-I am, otc., FAIR PLAT.
