A search of Lnudru's Paris house revealed a wardrobe .lilted with women's dollies, marked with the initials of flio suppof.ed victims, and also several books, inc-itidiiifc « (rcatiso mi celebrated poison cases. There was a luiilile demonstration when Die police escorted- I.andru from the luiuso. Women shouted "Death to (lie assassin!" and nourished sticks unil umbrellas, and it was difficult for the police to prolect the prisoner. Landru, referring to the hypnotic powers attributed to him, said if ho could only have spoken to those women he could have calmed them.
