£500,000 FOR WORKERS* EDUCATION
Sir Ernest Cassel lias placed in the hands of trustees for educational purposes a sum of i'MO,OOO. The trustees are Mr. Asiiuilh, Mr. Bnlfour, Miss Philippa Eawcett, Mr. H. A. L. Fisher, Lord iloldane, Sir George Murray, and Mr. Sidney Webb, their secretary being Mr. A. E. Tweulyimui. Tho following are specified as particular objects of the new foundation:— 1. 'J'lie promotion of adult education in connection with tho Workers' Educational Association or any , other association or body' approved of by the trustees, 2. Tho establishment of scholarships for the encouragement of the education of workmen or their sons and daughters. 3. Tho promotion of tho higher education of women by the assistance o,f colleges for women. i. Tho promotion of the study of foreip.ii languages. 5. Tho, establishment of _ a Faculty of Commerce in tho University of London in such tonus as may bo approved by the trustees.
