ANOTHER SEXUAL CASE. Tho criminal session of the Supreme Court was resumed yesterday morning His Honour the .Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) was on the Bench. ' A young man named Henry Arthur Grant pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault on a girl aged four years and eloven months. Mr. P. S. K. Macassey, of the Crown Law Offico, appeared for the Crown, and Mr. H. F. O'Leary for the accused. Mr. D. F. Skinner was foreman of the jury. , The. Court was cleared during the hearing of the case. The jury, after a short retirement, brought in a verdict of guilty, and the prisoner was remanded until Friday for sentence. RETRIAL OF CASHMAN. The retrial of Percy Cashman, charged with lassa.ulting Matthew Willie, was taken yesterday afternoon. There were three coumts in the indictment: (1) 'Attempting to do grievous bodily harm and wounding, (2) assault causing actual bodily harm, and (3) assault. Air. P. W. Jackson appeared for the accused, and Mr. J. B. T. Robinson was foreman of the jury. The evidence given was tho same as that tendered at the original trial on Thursday of last week. The jury, after a retirement of about one hour, returned a verdict of guilty on tho second count—assault causing actual bodily harm — nnd recommended the prisoner to mercy. His Honour, addressing the jury, said that the verdict was a proper one and he would endeavour to take their rtcommendation into consideration. TTie prisoner was remanded until Friday for sentence.
