SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
A meeting of the Council of the Sunday School Union was held last evening. Mr. A. Hoby, president, was in the chair. The Ashhurst ■Methodist* School was received as a member of the union. At the request of the committee of the Presbyterian schools, a deputation was sent to the meeting to make arrangements for a week's meetings on tho lines succesfully conducted in Dunedin. The balnnce-sheet of the camp was not quite ready, but it was reported that it was expected that, with some further subscriptions anticipated from schools, there should be no loss. . Arrangements wero completed for the scholars' examination, to be held on July s'. Enconrnginj reports were received from Mr. Howe, who i< engaged in opening new schpnls in country districts. The Auckland Union has a scheme for the formation of a North Island Union, and has a committee busy preparing a basis of amalgamation for Aueklnml nnd Wellington, with lt>e object of thorough!*} eove.rin!* the wholo of the island. A sub-committee was set up to cn-oporate with tho Auckland committee in the matter.
