This year the New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase, three mile and a half, will be. worth 1500 sovs, the Grand National Hurdles two miles and a half, 1200 sovs, and the Winter Cup, ono mile, 1000 sovs. As -was the case prior to the war the meeting will ng'ain be a three days' one, and will' be hold on August 12, 14, and IG.
The Trentham 'minora, J. W. Lowe and J. Ay res, left for Wanganui yesterday. • The former had the jumpers Coalition tind Seadown, and Avrcs took the Connolly'Handicap candidate, Risingham, and Astinome.
With the exception of Cotillion, who is being kept going for the Taratahi meeting next weejv, the whole'of H. Telford's ieniii are spelling in the paildoclc. The Martian yearlings have been broken in, and are being jogged about' on "the I racks.
J. M'Laughlin returned from Blenheim on Saturday- night, and brought with 1 him the two mares, Comment aiul Red Signal. The former was successful in * the big handicap on (he. middle day-of the Marlborough meeting, but Red Signal failed to score. The pair are to be given a few days' spell before racing again.

. During his absence at Wanganui and Ellerslie. the four yearlings in J. Lowe's slables are being jogged'-'about bg the tracks at Trentham, but' their tasks are of the light order.
A recent addition to tho Endeavour, Lodge team at' Trentham is the big Martian' golding Johnny Walker. The runner-up, in the New Zealand Cup lcoks remarkably well, and is as sound now as ever lie was. Present intentions are to have him schooled for hurdle racing. In addition to the two Martian youngsters , already reported, H. Telford has also; taken in/hand a couple of yearling colts, by (Bezonian from Sntisfairo and Paphia. I C.
