LEAGUE FOOTBALL
THE TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA. The New Zealand' Rugby Loaguo team which is to tour Australia is due to sail for Sydney twin. Auckland 10-day weck. It is expected that the lirst match to be played will be against New South Wales, at Sydney, on June 7. / ■The.selectors, Messrs. W. S. Brice(Wellington), W. W.vnyard (Auckland): D. Powell (Auckland), and W. Moylo (Canterbury), have chosen tho following players to take part in tho tour:-?-BacKs: W. J. Mitchell (Canterbury), P. il'Cartiiy (Hawkfj's Bay), ttv Davidson, G. Davidson, K. Ifwerson, A. Matthews, J. Stewart, W. Walsh, W. Cloke (Auckland), C. Lamg (Taranak'i), W. Wilson, U. Bradley (Wellington); forwards: J, Rukutai, W. Hadden, S. Walters, A. Waddell, I], Soiuom; J. Clark (Auckland), 11. 'fancied, J. Parker (Wellington), J. Brown (West Coast), and W. King (Canterbury). Emergencies: Forwards—U. Mitchell,'W. Williams (Auckland), C. Ashton (Wellington); backs-D. M'Gregor (Auckland), W. Warring (Wellington), and A. M'Clymott (Auckland). G. Bradley will-be captain of the team.
Messrs. H. Oakley and I?.. Level u, of Auckland, have'been appointed managers of the team, which will.be absent in Australia for probably two months. The members of (lie team will assemble in Auckland to-morrow, and a trial game against Auckland will be plaved next Sat"iiiiiy.
