BRITISH MEAT IMPORTS
STATEMENT IN PARLIAMENT. (Roc. May 19, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 10. Replying to Sir Newton M'oore, in tho House 1 of Commons, Mr. Roberts said that the Australian importers handled their own meat, except what the.Army required. None would be handled by tho Americans or other companies. Only ten per cent, of Britain's consumption of imported meat for .1918 consisted of Australasian. Tho serious shortage then prevailing necessitated large imports of North American meat, tho price of which was higher.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
