NOTES AND COMMENTS
fßr Glencob.]
The Australian Jockey Club's autumn meeting will lie commenced at Randwiek to-day, and will be continued,on Monday next.
Acceptances for all events on the opening day of the. Wanganui meeting close on Monday next at S p.m. Present indications point to there being a strong representation of Neu Zealand horses at Randwiek for the opening of the tew ?easnri. Trainer Q Jones, with Sasanof, Golden Bubble, Surveyor, Spanner, Taunaha, and a couple of two-year-olds, will go over in the winter. J. Jamieson is taking Affectation over, ujid the Riceartdn trainers R. J. Mason and M. Hobbs will both have teams racing at the big Randwiek fixture in October.
t lt is reported that at the next sitting of the Racing Confe'rence, to he held in July, a strong■_ effort will bo raado to have the licensirifr of jockeys and trainera done by a committee of the conference. If the proposal is carried three grades of each license will be issued.
.Yankee Jack has been freely entered for steeplechase events at the Auckland meeting, and it looks as if the Frisco gelding is in future to confino his attentions to brush fonces. At Trentham his lepping gave the idea that he would shape well over the bigger fences. Poltliogue, winner of the big Steeplechase at Hawera on Thursday, has been freely engaged at the Ellerslio meeting next month.
_ Hvllus. who 13 to be riden by L. Hewitt <is the early- fancy for the Cornwall Handicap at the Ullerslie meeting. It is stated that if Parisian Diamond starts in this race lie will bo ridden by H. Cray.
As, the Steeplechase and Hurdles at Ellerslie are this year run on different dates, it will be/possible for a horso to start in each race, as has often been the case to previous years. El Gallo won both faces at the same meeting, and several horses are trying to equal his record next month.
_ P. Tiiley took the two English horses Tame Fox and Bayberry to Hawera, but neither of the pair could win a race. Tame Fox has a private reputation as a _ galloper, and perhaps with a bit of racing he will not be long in getting on the winning list. A Press Association message from Sydney states that although tho weather is still unsettled the course is considered safe .for the raoing to-morrow. Snub is included in the Sydney Cup acceptors.
