WELLINGTON COLLEGE "BARRACKS"

The pupils of Wellington College have been in barracks" for four days, undergoing a special course of Senior Cadet training. The courso opened on Tuesday and was concluded yesterday' afternoon. Captain W. M. Bell (Group Commander) mtii Peen in charge, witn Captain. F. llcr seco nd in command. Hhue Captain Bell has been unable to superintend the training in person, his place/has been filled by Lieut. Thomson .(Group Adjutant). Yesterday afternoon Lieutenant-Colonel . L, bleeman (Director -of Military framing), Lieutenant-Colonel T. W. M Donald (Officer Commanding Wellington Military District), Lieulenaiit-Cot-onel G. l owles, find, Captain Cross visited the college, and inspected tho. Cadets' at their 'werk. Colonel Sleeman complimented the boys on the general excellence of--tho work done, which showed Brent improvement on that of last vear. He emphasised the great value of such training to the boys in after life, point-, ing out t.iat'it was not so much aimed at producing soldiers as such, but' at JIT- 1 !!? - , citizens. LieutenantColonel M'Donakl and Lieutenant-Col-onel Powles also addressed the boys, congratulating them 011 thefr good -.work. Lach/speaker, 011 conduding, was heartily cheered.
