A very large crowd of men from sliip.=> 111 port met their hostess, Miss ]'. van Staveren, at her concert on Thursday ai tho bailors' Friend Society, wiien songs, choruses, and recitals filled a delightful programme. Tho perfonnors were: Mrs. Flanagan, the Misses R. van Staveren, Rhotlaiidcr, and van Staveren, and Messrs. Hogan, Morley, Williams (Northuinbqrlaiul). Mrs. Flanagan was at tho piano, Mr. Moore (inissioner) occupying tho chair. The competitions produced a shea! of short, stories. Tho winners wcro Kia Ora, Northumberland, and luiikoura. Tho. prizes came from tho iresdames Flanagan. Jfext Thursday 31 r. Fred Hnybittlo will givo "F<xperiences 011 tho Western Front.
