OFFICERS' INSTITUTE
ANNUAL MEETING.. The annual meeting of the Wellington Officers' Institute was held in the officers' club room, Buckle Street Hall, last evening. Colonel G. 11.I 1 . *C. Campbell (Commander of Coast Defences), presided. Major-General Sir Alfred Robin was among those present.. The secretary (Major Dunne) stated that during the past year lectures had, been held regularly under tho auspices of the' institute until tho outbreak of the influonza epidemic, which had abruptly terminated the courdc. It was with regrot that he had to record the death from influenza of several members, viz., Lieiit.-Coionel Holmes, Lieut.Colonel Waters, Major M'Gilp,» D.5.0., Captain Bishop and Lieutenant Mnssey. Subscriptions 'collected during the year had totalled .£25 13s. Gd„ and the expenditure had been .CI!) lUs. 9d. There was a balance in hand of £5 IGs. 9d. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—Hon. secretary, Major Dunne; lion, treasurer, Lieutenant W. 11. Jones; committee, Captain Wyles, Captain l'ryor, Captain Keenan, Captain Petersen, Lieutenant Miles. Major Wallingford, M.C.,.proposed that members should be , invited to submit written suggostiojis for tho establishment of an. officers' club that would givo grcator opportunities for social intercourse than tho institute in its present form provided. The idea was adopted, and tho committee was instructed to draw up a. report embodying whatever suggestions might bo submitted. '
The annual subscription was tentatively fixed at 10s.
