INSTRUCTION COURSES AT TRENTHAM
Territorial and Cadet officers and noncommissioned officers are taking, advantage of the instructional courses at Trentiiam in increasing numbers. These courses in physical drill, musketry, infantry drill, and machine-gun drill were inaugurated last January.- Each course lasts a fortnight, and the men and youths attending are at liberty to select the form of training that they prefer. The number attending the first course was 53 and the number attending the sixth course, which started on Wednesday, is 280. Many of the officers and n.c.o.'s attending these courses have set themselves to qualify as instructors, and for this purpose have taken more than one course. The instruction is given by experienced .men who were employed formerly training recruits for the Expeditionary Force. The'results attained are regarded bv the Defence authorities as very satisfactory. The physical improvement effected in a short ithne is often iremnrknble. and many, parents have written to the. responsible officers expressing their anjrecLition of what has been done for'the boys. .
