WESLEY CHURCH TARANAKI STREET
The adjourned quarterly meeting of the Wesley Church, Tnranaki Street, was held on Monday, the Rev. J. G. Chapman presiding. The Hev. .T. H. .White and twenty-eight officials ■ were present. The balance-sheet revealed a credit on the quarter of X 7 10s. 4d. and a total circuit credit of =C 249 15s. 3d. Matters relating to foreign missions were discussed, and Mr. C. IT. Smith appointed secretary and treasurer. Messrs. Barratt and Gajrard were appointed a committee, to co-operate with the Hev. C. H: Okie, 8.A., organising secretary of Sunday-schools arid younj; people's societies. Regret was.expressed at the early departure of Sister May for Australia. The question of tho appointment of her successor was dealt with. The circuit stewards stated that as invitations to ministers for 1020 were boing Riven it was the wish of the congregation to secure the appointment of the Tiev.' J...G. Chupmnn' for another year. Several members- referred'.in eulogistic terms to Mt. Chapman's work—his fresh, vigorous sermons, the large congregations,; excellent state of the various classes, especially those of the young people, fine tone iii the church, and healthy finances were favourably commented upon. By a unanimous vote, tho officers pledged their heartiest support. Mr. Chapman stated (hat there could lie but one answer to such a vote—he felt it to be his duty to remain another year.
