Tho work of discharging the steamer Northumberland was 'started last night, the Yfatcruide Workers' Union having been satisfied with the report of their medical representative that Hie six cases of sickness removed from the ship are ordinary typhoid fever only. It was mentioned in tho report to the union that there was yesterday no suspicion of influenza, tho case's having no lung complications, although they were of from 12 to 30 days' standing. THE KIA ORA. The Shaw-Savill steamer Kia Ora berthed at King's Wharf late yesterday afternoon. After unloading Jiuglish cargo hero she will leave on Saturday, for Lyttclton and Dunedin. BLENHEIM FOR FOXTON. To the agency of Messrs. Levin and Co., the steamer Blenheim will leave Wellington at 4 p.m. to-morrow for Foxtou. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. • Mr. J. ,W. Harris, second mate on tho Ngithere, has come ashore. Mr. H. M. Harley has joined the Karamu as chioi' mate, vice Mr. M. L. Singleton. Mr. A. Mercer has signed on the Mapou-rik-a as third mate. Zohrab advises that the Calm'will sail to-day for tho south. The small Bteamcr Paeroa left Hokitika yesterday morning for Wellington. After discharging wool and cheeße she will wait to load explosives, ex tho sailer Huia, for the Ooast. The Waihora sailed yesterday for Sydney. The Auckland City Council's steam trawler Simplon sailed yesterday afternoon for her homo port. She has been mine-sweep-ing for sonic considerable time in company with the locally-owned Nora Nivcn, which latter vessel is now beiiiß overhauled at Wellington. Tho Monowai left Auckland at 9 p.m. on Tuesday for this port, via- Napier. Tho 11.M.5. .Tainui will clear for Loudon" this afternoon. The Scales' barque Rona left Newcastle at 4 p.m. on Tuesday for Wellington, coalladen.
