Yesterday he had the advantage of having had a race on ,the iiat, and when next Yellow and Black meets the southern horse he. will probably reverse posilions with him. Tventhnm form pointed to Minister having a royal chance at Hawera yesterday, and the Spalpeen gelding did not have much difficulty in accounting for . the Tongahoe- Hurdles. After twice- filling the position of run ner-up on the opening day, the Otakitrained Some Girl was able to' win the Oniaku Hack Welter Handicap nt Riverlands yesterday, and in doing so she accounted for a hot favourite in Pervolo. Brackenfield, winner of the Awatere Trial Handicap nt Blenheim, yesterday, is a three-year-old by Boniform, from a Charlemagne II mare. He is jointly , owned by Messrs. L. Griffith and J. T. Murphy of Blenheim. - The programme for the three days winter meeting of the Wellington Racing Club has been passed. It is framed on much the samo lines as last year. The Wellington Steeplechase, three mile* und a quartor, is worth 1000 sovs., and the Parliamentary Handicap, one mile and a quarter, carries 400 sovs. slaku money,. y - A trotting, club'has been formed atNew Plymouth, and the opening membership is stated to be two hundred and fifty.
