TIMBER REGULATIONS
o PROTEST OF WE3TLAND COUNTY COUNCIL. By Telesraph-Press Association. Hokitika, May 11. _ At p. meeting of the Westland Comity Council 'last evening strong comment was passed on the inimical effect of the timber regulations, as affecting tho sawmilling industry throughout Westland. It was plainly stated that the industry stood in grave danger if the timber lands were handed over, as proposed, to the Forestry Department. It was resolved to invito the Minister of Lands to visit the district as early as,possible to confer with the council regarding the restrictive nuhire of the regulations as affecting milling r.'ud settlement. The council also desires to review the position of scenio reserves, which are blocking settlement and the mining industry in Westland County. ,
