Afterwards ho will meet public deputations, and on Friday he will visit Ross. On Saturday ho will proceed to Ohrislehurch, passing through the Otira Tunnel.to Arthur's Pass. In tho course of his address to the confi'feiicc, the Minister said he was preparing the .most progressive Mining Bill .ret put before the country. The measure would be introduced next session, i He hlso had in preparation an Industries Hill,- with tho object of assisting in establishing industries of a productive nature. Referring to agricultural matters, Mr. MocDonald said the Department was about to establish an experimental farm. Tie spoke in support of the Otira tunnel as a factor in the future of the Dominion, apart from its importance to tho district.
