Following on an announcement by the Federal Council, the Seamen's Union has arrived nt a definite decision regarding the calling of a general strike of seamen. It is reported that the crews of the ships in port will strike to-night, hut the officials stato that the decision will not bo published until they have had an opportunity of meeting the men. .The secretary of the Federated Seamen's Union stated that the maritime, situation has not been more critical sinco 1017.—Press Assn.
