I . • . ■ I » ■ INDECENT ASSAULT CASE. ', The Criminal Session of the ■ -Supreme Court was continued yesterday before His Honour' the Chief .Justice (Sir Robert Stout). A plea of not guilty .was entered by William. Bannenuun Rogers, who was charged with indecent assault on a girl aged six years and six months. Mr. P. S. K. Macassey, of the Crown Luw Office, appeared /or this Crown and Mr. R. Kennedy for; the accused. Mr. W. Appleton was foreman of the jury. The enso occupied Hio whole/of the day, quite a number of 'vih>esses being called for the defence. The jury, after a retirement of about half an hour, brought in a vuc.Uct of guilty, with a recommendation that, .if possible, the prisoner should be sentenced to reformative ti«ntmcnt, His Honour: Thi\t, v ptobably,-would be. th» best. 'J'lio lad is, perhaps, not altogether to blame. Tho prisoner was remanded to Saturday for sentence. ■ ■'• • , CHRISICHURCH CRIMINAL SESSIONS By Telegraph—ProKs Association; Christchurch, May 13. At the Supreme' Court to-day, Alma Quintall was sentenced to twelve months' reformative imprisonment for' theft; Edward Cornejius Sullivan, who had pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to several charges of tbeft, was sentenced to sis months' imprisonment j Harris Thomas Hunter, a Postal ollicial, was found not guilty of tho theft of a postal packet containing a, cheque for ,£ll 4s, * ' DUNEDINSiTTINGS , Dunedin, May 13. Tho'Supreme Court criminal sittings opened to-day, Mr. Justice Sim said tho calendar comprised charges against eight persons. Three offences were against the porsoii and the others again6t property. '
