GERMANS' BRAZEN EFFRONTERY
STRONG- ACTION CALLED FOR (Rec. May 11, 5.5 p.m.)
Paris, May 8. Mr Massey declared Unit the Germans' nttitudo was one of brazen effrontery. He expectecj them to display independence, perhaps defiance. Judging Germany by their action, he says, there is no sign of regeneration of spirit of the people of Germany. On the contrary, he apprehended serious trouble from them before the terms were finally agreed upon. He believed, however, that the Allies would stand by the terms in every important particular The impression among the British delegates is that the speech was so insolent that it calls for strong action. All vrero at the tone. Mr Wilson eaid: "The speech proved the Germans to be the most tactless people on the faco of (lie earth. They misunderstand human nature. Count Rnntzau's speech is on a parity with their action throughout the war. They always did the wrong thing."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
