Wellington, who tied with Athletic for the 1914 senior championship (the outbreak of war preventing a final match), is one of the tennis expected to do great tiling \tliis season. There is no moro popular club in the province that tho yellow and blacks. and if L. A. Beard, a brilliant five-eighth in the 1914 team, be got out (he has just returned from the front), part habitues should havo the pleasure: of seeing Wellington more than once on Ihe No. 1 grourid. The forwards are strong, and with a speedy three-quarter line, including Packer and Rn'vident (both representative players), all that is required is Beard to cement them into a fine side. Petone will not be so strong as last, season, nt least for tho first, round. It is likely that Nicholls, Tailored, and Arthur Parker will not be playing to-morrow, and under these circumstances Wellington will have a T>ig following. Captain (Dr.) Ritchie Crawford. a South Island referee with a fine RugJ>y word, both as a player and administrator, will carry the whistle.
