PRICES OF RICE
'MAXIMUM FIXED. v An Order-ih-Couucil published jesterday lixes the maximum price of rice when sold wholesale ex store upon the usual trade terms established at tiiu date of t:he Order-in-Courieil at 30s. per hundredweight. When sold wholesale other.wise than as aforesaid, (hen the niiixi-,-]inun price thereof shall bo a price .equivalent as regards the seller to tlib maximum price- above mentioned. The maximum retail price of rice shall l;o feurpence |ier pound. .'ln any case In which by reason of the remoteness of the premises of the retails! , from the source of supply, or by reason of any other special circumstances, the Board i.'f Trade is satisfied that the- iiioresaid maximum retail price may reasonably bo increased by any retailer, the board way authorise that retailer to exceed the said maximum price by such amount as tlio board thinks raisonnble,, and any such authority may be at any t'ino -withdrawn by the boa'rd'.- So Jong a.s any such authority Tcniiiins-in force the prico so authorised by the board shall in respect of that retailer ba deemed to be substituted for the. maximum price as fixed by the .preceding clause.
