The case against a local Chinese merchant, Sai Laurie, of. having aided and abetted the -simtgijlrnK into New Zealand of two prohibited Chinamen, was concluded to-day. A conviction was entered, and fines of .£2o[on each of two charges were imposed, with' ".£8 12s. costs. Security of appeal was fixed at fifteen guineas.
