DISTRICT
Influenza figures for the four days From May 1 to May. i have been supplied to the-Minister of Public Health (the Hon. G. W. Russell). In the four days there were in the Dominion thirty-nine cases of influenza notified. , In the 'Auckland district there were eight cases, all mild, in the Wellington district thirteen among the mone pneumonic case at Now Plymouth, and one at Eltham; in Canterbury there were eighteen, including four pneumonic cases in Chrietchurch and suburbs, and three severe cases in Timaru and Pareora, districts. There were no notifications in Otago. There have been three deaths from influenza recently-one at Pahiatua on April 27, and ono at Marten, and one at Spreydon, Canterbury, both on May 1.
. PATIENTS ON SOMES ISLAND. Yesterday the temperature of each man on the Manuka was taken, and the pornouncement in each case was "Normal." Over 20 contacts aro to rejoin the Manuka to-day. There are at present nine cases in hospital on Somes Island, three or four being severe. There are five convalescents. There is a complete staff on the island, including three nurses and orderlies, and everything possible is being done for the patiente. The steamer Komata was 'not placed in quarantine. A man from this vessel was, Bent to the Hospital, and after hie removal the 6hip was fumigated. She will now be allowed to proceed on her journey. TWENTY-TWO CASES IN CANTERBURY, By Teleeranh-Prees Association. A fatal case of pneumonic influenza occurred at the Thames-Hospital yesterday.
