PREVENTION OF ANTHRAX
BILL IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. (Rec. May 7, 8 p.m.) London, May 3. -In the House of Commons Sir Earner Greenwood moved the second reading of the Prevention of Anthrax Bill, which empowers the prohibition of tho importation of goods infected or likoly to bo infected with anthrax; .the.compulsory disinfection of infected wool or similar* goods; and .the establishment of State works .for ilib disinfection of infected goods at the importers' cost. Sir Hamer Greomvood said that in spite of all precautions the number of cases of anthrax in the wool and allied trades liad steadily increased. 'Tho Bill was based on the unanimous recommendation. of. a .committee representing the trades concerned. A process had recently been discovered' for eliminating the anthrax.'germ.'.'without' affecting the/material. The cost of establishing the first disinfecting station was estimated at, over JJ40,000.-Reuter.
