TnE REMUERA FROM LONDON.. ' The New Zealand Shipping Company's Remuera, which arrived at Auckland on 'Monday- t''°rc London, will sail for AVellington to-morrow. The Remuera left Plymouth on March 17, and had a very stormy trip to Newport News. One of her boats was smashed away, and one of tho davits broken. . The vessel was hove to for 36 hours; She reached Newport News on April 1. and - stayed there three day 3 coalinn. She called at Jamaica en route to Colon, and cleared Panama for Auckland on April .12, Captain J. J. Cameron is in command, and has with him the following officers:--Chief, Mr. J. THE VALMARIE. The Australian three-masted schooner Valmarie, which arrived at Auckland from Newcastle on Sunday morning, is a, now vessel, built in Tasmania, and launched last January. According to the opinion of those on board she is a credit to her builders. ' The lower part of her hull is built of blue gum and the upper part of white pine. -Her deckhouses, in which her crew are accommodated, are built of 'Pasmuniau pine. She is chedited with good sailing qualities, working to windward like a yacht. Her passage from Newcastle, to Auckland took 16 days owing to very light variable winds. On her trip from Tasmania to Newcastle she experienced a south-woßt gale. The wind -was on her quarter, and ivith a full main and foresail and a close-reefed mizzen she logged 12a. knots for 24 hours. Her cargo for Auckland consists of a full load of piles and girders. She will iprobnbly be-there a "week, ".'id then goes to Whangarci to, load timber for Australia. Captain Harris is master of the Valmarie. with Mr. K. Bosswell as mate and Mr. C. Banks second mate.
DEVON COMING VIA AUSTRALIA. Cable advico received by tTfie N.Z. mid African Company says that the Devon, which left Port Said on April 5 for Wellington, and was due here on Thursday next, is calling at Melbourne and Sydney for discharge of cargo from Colombo. This will put the date of the vessel's arrival in New Zealand back about eleven days, and she will now start loading for Liverpool at Lytteltou, where she should arrive about May 26, later coming on to Wellington to load further. . SCALES LIKE OF SAILEES. The barque Raupo loft San Francisco on 'May 10 with case oil for Napier. Tho Ysabel, barqneiitine. sailed from Melbourne on Tuesday with general cargo for Auckland. Loading has been commenced by the bn.ro.ue Eona at Newcastle for Wellington. The schooner Eira, which put back to port on April 29 owing to the illness of the master "(Captain Champion), sailed on Saturday last for Tonga in charge of Captain Lane. The vessel is to load copra for Auckland. . NORTHUMBERLAND LATE. Heavy westerly weather lias also nrevented the Northumberland from making port as early as she was expected. II is officially announced that it will be early tomorrow morning before she arrives at Wellington. Three sailing vessels arc at present in port at Wanganui for tho purpose of transporting over three-quarters of a- million feet of white nine to Sydney. They are the Senorita, the Whito Pine, and the Maroro. MAPOURIKA TO RELIEVE AHAHURA. On her return to Auckland from Wellington next.week the Mapourikawill replace the Arahura N in the Nnpior, Gisbornc, and Auckland run. while the Arahurn. is undergoing overhaul at the northern port. NAVUA. FOE- MAKATEA ISLAND: The Navua, which was due at Auckland yesterday from Melbourne with general cargo, will, after discharge, go to Makntca Island to load phosphates for Auckland. The Whangape. which is discharging acargo of phosphates at Auckland from Makatea Island, is expected to sail to-dav to load another, cargo at Makatea Island. WESTRALIA BERTHS. Twenty-four hours after her arrival in tho stream from Melbourne, the HuddartParker steamer Westralia berthed at No. 16 Jcrvois Quay breastwork early yesterday afternoon. A start was made to discharge her 1500 tons of local cargo last night. It is announced that elic will now nail nt noon on Saturday for Lyttclton, Duncdin, Bluff, and Melbourne. ATUA FOR WELLINGTON. The Union oCmpnny'e Una. with cargo exclusively, left Svtlncv on Turday direct, for Wellington, in the running of the Mocraki. She will arrive at- this port on Saturday, and on completion of discharge will icturn to Sydney PORT SYDNEY CLIvAKEO. The Port. Sydney was found to be a clean shin, and her passengers came ashore by tender. The vessel will sak earlv this morning for Timaru to load for "Homo, the completion of which will be done at Wellington. , DISCHARGING BERTHS ASSIGNED. The Whakatn.ne has been ordered to a discharging' berth at Taranaki Street Wharf The Northumberland will' unload her cargo from Liverpool at King's Wharf.
The- Kin, Ora arrived at Lyttclton at 5.30 p.m. yeßterday from the United Kingdom. Tho dredgo Te Whaka, of the Lyttclton Harbour Board, is at present having a general overhauling prior to her departure for Nelson, where she is to carry out dredging operations for about two months. The intercolonial collier Waihora will leave Wellington about Saturday for Newcastle. ~ It is announced that the steamer Calm ia a day later than schedule.
