COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
A meeting of the Executive Council of the Wellington Competitions Society wae held on Tuesday evening, Mr. F. G.- Cray presiding. It was decided to hold the next competitions festival from October 1G to November 1, both dates inclusive. The appointment of the various sub-com-mittees and schedule of their duties was agreed to. Mr. J. L. Amis was elected treasurer of the society for the ensuing year. The following were elected as adjudicators, subject to their consent to act:—lnstrumental and vocal music, Mr. Harold Gregson (Auckland): elocution, Mr. Jphn H. Hopkins (Melbourne); Highland dancing, Mr. Mackenzie Forbes (Wanganui). Thf question of securing a suitable building in which to hold the competitions was (referred to Messrs. Cray, Hunt, and Jenner to make inquiries and report to a future meeting.' It vas resolved to invite tenders for printing the syllabus and official programmes; Several offers of special prizes have already been received, and tho complete syllubus will bo issued as early as possible.
