SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
An enjoyable concert was given Inst ni"lit at the Sailors' Friend Society by Madame Dempster before a very ' large audience. -Mr. J. Moore, missiouer, was in the chair. Every item ■'on the programme was encored. The following contributed items: Alesdames Dempster and Piiltersou and the Misses Clapp, 0 Connur, Read, and Lewis, and Mr. Edmonds (s.s Hororara) and Makers Ellis and Thomas. Madainu ])cmpsh'r was at the piano. "Cards 1 Have Met" was the subject of, tho missioner's temperance talk. Pledges followed. The choruses anil tho competitions were popular items. Pri7.es camo from -Willis Street and went to the R.M.S. Athenic.
