MR. MASSEY SECURES AN AGREEMENT
VESTED IN WAR GRAVES
COMMISSION

Paris, April 29. Sir. Massey has secured a Gallipoli agreement providing that tho battlefields shall be' transferred, in perpetuity, to Britain, in order that they may be permanently maintained exclusively as a cemetery and memorial for tho fallen. The Ottoman Government must, within six months of signature to the Treaty, take legislative nnd administrative measures vesting the title in the British, who shall be entitled to transfer it to the Imperial Graves Commission. A. similar body shall improve' the land, which eliall be exempt from taxation, and there shall be free access to visitors. Turkey must punish the violntors and desecralors of the' graves. The clause shows that tho Council intends Turkey to retain Constantinople under a mandatory Power. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. • ■
