ISLINGTON FREEZING WORKS FIRE

I Christchurch, April 30. The insurance offices interested in the lire at the Islington Freezing Works, with the amount of their risks, are as follow:-A-]liunee, .£30,000; Atlas, .£30,000; Itoyal, .£20,000; and the British Traders' Commercial Union, Liverpool and London, and Globe, London and Lancashire, New Zealand Insurance, North British, Northern Assurance, Norwich, Phoenix, Queensland, Royal Exchange, South British, Standard, Sun, Union, Union of Cn.nton, ond Yorkshire, £'10,000.each. This morning representatives of the companies examined the damage with a. view to assessing tho amount to be paid out. The general manager states that the company will be able, to continue operations in the fellmongeiy department. It is not regarded as necessary to seek the assistance of other companies to curry on.
DESTRUCTIVE FIRE ON'A FARM. By Telegraph—Press Association
Auckland, April 30. A fire at Mr. F. Carbine's farm, at Eucklaiids, to-day, destroyed three sheds containing 150 tons of liny, valued At .£BOO. a milking' plant valued at MbO, and manure valued at JJ7O. It is believed the fire was caused by spontaneous coriibustion. The owner is a Heavy loser above the insurances. , •
