MEETING AT BROOKLYN. . A meeting of residents of Brooklyn was held in Fullfonl's Hall last evening to hear a lecture on home nursing and to witness demonstrations of beduiaking mid the taking, of temperature by Nurse Shaw. Mr. George Frost presided, and introduced Nurse Shaw, who he said had served in the hospitals in France tor about fifteen moiiihs, and had had considerable experience m Franco and England. He stated that there was a possibility, though lie hoped not a probability, of the influenza ep'demic visiting tho city again, and although they had had some experience of dealing with it, there was need for more women to know something about home-nursin? and cooking lor individuals. Sound adv.'co on these subjects and demonstrations ill bed-mak-ing so :;s to cause tho patient as little inconvenience as-possible would be given by the nurse He apologised for the absence of Dr. Fyft'e, who was absent through some misunderstanding. Doctor Fyfl'o understood it was a lecture for women only, and that it would be sullieient for a nurso to do all that was necessary. Nurso Shaw, who came at an hour's notice, dealt with the. symptoms of fever, the reading of the clinical thermometer, the taking of the pulse beats, etc. She explained the danger point of the thermometer reading, and the necessity for sponging the patient, which would have the effect of reducing the temperature. She then gave a demonstration of bed.diking, a girl acting as patient. The demonstration was very thorough and of educational value to the large number of women.who were present.
