CHURCH MEETING
ST. PAUL'S. ' At the annual meeting of parishioners Of St. Paul's Church, the parishioners' warden. -Mr. 11. B. Bigg, presented the churchwardens' report and balance-sheet. The receipts had been less than those of\ tho preceding year, but only by the amount that would have been received on the Sundays when the church was shut owing to the epidemic. The expenditure was large, as tho parish had had a second clergyman all the year. The snm of .£250, mostly raised by the ladies of the parish, had been paid off the vicarage debt. The report congratulated the Rev. G. N. Turner on his ordination'' as priest, and tho vicar on his appointment as archdeacon. The wardens expressed a hope that younger men- coming back to the parish from the front would take their places in tho work. The vicar, in his address, thanked the parishioners for their uniform kindness to him and the many workers in various branches of church activities. The exeoutore of the late Mr. David Anderson were paying ,£2500 to the rebuilding fund, and Mrs Balcombe Brown had told him the was sending .£250 to further reduce the debt on the vicarage.' For the first time sinco the war began they were hold- , ing. their meeting in their own hall. Many hundreds of soldiers would be grateful that there was such a convenient hall in which the-lndies of the Soldiers' Club could entertain them. Hb predicted that the outconjfe of the Gen-' eral Synod, to be held this week, would be that ladies would bo-able to vote at parishioners' moetings. Ho dwelt at, some length on tho life and work of Arch-; deacon Fancourt. , ' Mr. J. W. Alluian Marchant and Mr. G. G. Bridges wero appointed a .parish committee to promote the Archdeacon Fancourt Memorial Fund. Tho vicar.' Mr. E. H. Anderson, and Mr. D. M Yeats wero appointed trustees of tho St. Paul's Day School. Stops-- wero taken , to erect a bronze memorial in the church of parishioners who had laid down their lives in the war. The following officers were appointed: —Vicar's warden, Professor T. 11. Easterfield; parishioners'- warden, Mr. C. A. Lawrence; vestrymen, Messrs. O. Bcere, G. G. Bridges, A ,T. Curtis, K. S. Farmer. S. Firmingcr, J. W. A. Marcliant. R. B. Rigg, L. Stowe, W. F. Ward, and D. M. Yeats; audilors, Messrs. C. P. I'owlcs and 6. R Wright.
