Coalition was only a neck behind Consultuhf"\ Rod Signal was (ho only scratching in the Rolotawai Handicap, 'and the public niado Chimera a short-priced favourite. She and Daytime were in front to the turn, where both compounded, and Matatua look charge. He was _ soon challenged by Comment and Potentiality, and the last-mimed finishing strongly won by two lengths from Comment. Mabituu was a neck away, and then caino the top weight. The winner has not started for seme time, nnd the nice on. Saturday evidently improved him. All started in the Tauherenikau Handicap, Battle Array being the favourite selection. He was not handled to the best, advantage, .and was on tho outside of two horses tor the greater part of the journey. ■ He led into the straight, but then Elocution took charge, and though challenged by-Robur she won all out by n neck. . Classification was tWTi lengths away, and then came Battle Array. The. winner comes from the same stable as Potentiality, who was successful in the open sprint. Miss Gold wns the favourite, with' Astinome and .the liiddifqrd bracket next in demand. Maronne and Chaeronia on the inside were first away, and the former soon put a. break.. on the field. Astinomo. iilid.sl urt'tia. headed Chne'ronin before the straight was. entered, but they could-not. reach. Maronne, who won nicely ' from'. Manila. Speec limajier finished well, and got third place.
