A NURSE'S CLAIM

In the Magistrate's Court to-day Florence Martha Lewis claimed JIIG from the Ashburton Hospital Board for services rendered as a nurs? in charge of a temporary hospital at Methven during the influenza enidemie, from December 5 to 25. at jCC Gs. per week. The ' defendant hoard counter-claimed for.i!2fl, the value of -12 mattresses, (M uillows and carpet runner wrongfully burned or destroyed at the temporary hospital. The board contended th"t the remuneration claimed by the nlnjutiff. a" "iiarngistered nurse, was excessive, and th nf 10s. ner Any was n fair rite of pav. The Ma/ristrate. after reviewing the evidence, said that 13s. 6d. per dnv, considering the circumstances, would be a f..ir rnto <:f n<iv. .ind'onvo judwent for plaintiff for ",£l2 3s. With .regard to the counter-claim, it was his opinion that Nurse' Lewis had been authoi'sed to destroy the articles, and so would give judgment against the board, with costs.
