KILRUSH WINS BIG EVENT. (Spccinl Reporter.) Featherston, April 26. TIIS Wairarapa Meeting was opened on Saturday in beautitul weather. There whs a tair crowd present, but it was not us large as on Uβ holiday (lutes pre* viously hold by this club. All the acceptors lined up for the Trial Hack Handicap. Astiuome nnd Dainty fatep were the best bucked, but Deacon, Blighty, and HaeremOana had each n good lollowing. Froui a perfect start the favourite was soon in front, and; followed by Blighty and Dainty. Step, «he led into'tlie straight. Here Deacon put in a claim, but'.he failed to go on. The favourite won comfortably from Dainty (Step, who wns. doing'her best to brat Timidity at th,e. finish. Deacon was fourth. '
The winner is one of the useful Mamopoto tribe and does well on a light preparation. She is owned by Mr. (j. A. l'iilmer, of Tronthani. ." , The withdrawal of Pcrvolo left fivo runners in (he Te- Waka Welter. Risingham, 9st. 1311)., who had the services of j{,-Hatch, .was voted a good, thing, and alter.an interesting finish with Consultation the favourite piilied through by a length, with Rienzi liegten off m. third place. Consultation made play into tns straight, but tlie favourite was always handy. Coalition, who looks well, whs given a race, which should, sharpen him up for the-jumping season. •/ .. Pervola led into .the straight, where Bouville and Zabism joined in, and soon headed the-Advance mare. Justification finished fast,, and caught: Zabism, • but could not reach' , Bonyille, who won by half a Zabism was a length away, end Pervola finished .next, Ilia winner is trained by J. Ayres, and was the third winner saddled up : ;by- the Trentham trainer during the -fternoon. Bonville is'broken-winded, but ;t did not come against her to-day. • Galore Was the favourite in the concludinß event,' Red Signal and Hnstie also being well supported. Red Signal made play in front with Robjir nnd Gold Soult in the reiir. The two lattir moved up at the turn for home, whore the leader ran wide, and'carried Robur with her.-but the latter finished well/and won bv a length u»d a half.
