The matron was working under very great difficulties, and that should not be allowed to continue longer than could be helped. The election of the executive officers for the year 1919-20 resulted as follows:— President, Mr. J. W. Henderson; vicepresidents, Revs.'A. L. Hi">sell, J. H. Sykes, and Messrs. T. It. Lees, and J. W. Ballachey; lion. auditor, Mr G. P. Judd, F.I.A.N.Z. A motion was passed urging the executive to proceed with a scheme _ for at once raising funds for the building of a new home. Tho Bishop congratulated tho society on past year's work, and said that he was with them in their desire to I ave; a new home. It was more important now than ever to care for the children. Tho «"iolo Empiro had lost in the war a liirsfi proportion of its young manhood, leaving elderly people end children, and then singularly enough the influenza epidemic had made the same selection. The greater proportion of tboso who had died during the epidemic.had been young men and women. That had been the experience throughout the world. There was thus a great gap, and it was necessary that their boys and girls should be cared for properly, and trained to fill tho gap. With regard to raising funds, there was plenty of money in tho country and plenty of money in' the dioocse, and it was only necessary to ask the people for help, but they must he asked personally. He again congratulated the society on tho suocess achieved last year. A voto of thanks was accorded to the honorary workers of the society, including the doctors, tho dentist, the solicitor, and the auditor.
