At -a general meeting of tho Pnlmerston North Operatic Society this week over which Mr. C. Louisson presided there was a largo .attendance of mem. here. Tho chairman extended a hearty welcome back to members who had returned from tho war, and it was decided to put oil an opera, the selection of tho piece being left in the hands of a subcommittee. The committee was authorised to communicate with Sir. Pollard on the matter and report to a later meeting. Opportunity was taken by tho chairman to stress tho necessity of securing new members. A sories of ouch re parties and dances in aid of the building fund of tho projected new Catholic church at Palmerston North drove boon arranged for under the auspices of the children of St. Mary. The death of a weil-known and respected old resident of Bulls, in the person of Mr. Charles Hinkley, is reported. He' was born at Cranbrooke.
