The matter of the lack of refrigerated ■ Bpace available by the freezing works ! for meat-was again discussed at the meeti ing of the executivo of the Canterbury! ; District of the New Zealand Farmers'! ; Union .on "Wednesday. The AVaiau ; "branch wrote, conveying! a resolution of ' protest against "the unfair treatment New i Zealand, and particularly Canterbury, ; ivas receiving at the hands of the Sliip- ; -ping Controller." . h Mr. D. Jones pointed out that he had ! convened a meeting a fortnight previous-' i ly, relative to the position. As a direct ! result of the representations then made • (that butter and cheese had been given ; undue preference),' lie believed the posii tion had improved slightly. The Horo- ! Tata, instead/of loading a large quantity I of cheese-and biitfer,"-had\taken meat. When the meeting was held, the position rfas that a quantity of meat,from : the 1916 r season was still in 6tore. He moved that the Government should ' be written to, ask- ; ing that the Corinthic should be detained in-Lyttelton to load meat. This was seconded .by Mr. -W. T.
