ST. AUGUSTINE'S CHURCH, PETONE
The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Augustine's parochial district was held on Wednesday evening. The I?ev. 11. T. Stealer presided. Tlip vicar's minimi report stated that tte attendance at the services had been very much the same ns the previous year. During the year there were GO baptisms, 20 persons confirmed, 11 weddams, and 52 burials. After more thnn twenty-years' service, Mr. J. H. Shcrwin had resigned his position us organist, as he was leaving the district. Mr. Parikhurst had been appointed to fill the vacancy. The balance-sheet for the year showed Unit thev began with a balance in hand of J!5 Cs. lid., and closed with a debit balance of Jill Is. 3d. This was considered fairly satisfactory, when it was libnio in mind that the church was closet during the epidemic. The general offertories for the year amounted to £252 2s. 10d., and the special offertories to .£27 IBs. id. As the result of the last bazaar ,£Sfl was paid off the debt of the church building, and the balance went towards the drainage. Over JCSO was sent to foreign missions, and .£<3 spent on the Sundav School and picnic. Tlie following officers were elected':— Vicar's warden, Mr. J. 0. Castle: people's warden, Mr. H. ft. Johnson; vestry, Messrs. Abr'ahall, Armstrong, Blackburn, Ciaridge, Harrison, tleuthcoto, Matthews, Morgan,- Watt, and Wcbley.
