YEARLING SALES NEW ZEALAND PURCHASES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, April 24. At the yearling sales, Mr, G. F. Nicol, of New Zealand, paid 75 guineas for a Flippant— Glissas lilly, 120 guineas for n Charlemagne ll—Lightheart colt, and 65 guineas for a Charlemagne il—Femina Flume colt. Top price was realised for a Linacre— I'osc colt, at 1000 guineas. A Linacre— Miss Arlington colt realised 725 guineas. Mr. G. The Dunedin, South Canterbury, and North Otago Jockey Clubs have postponed the closing of entries for their winter meetings 'till to-morrow. Entries for the Marlborough meeting close to-night at 5 o'clock. Nominations for the winter meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club close, tonight. Entries for the principal events at tlie Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting are due to-night. Acceptances for tho Manawatu meeting close on Monday next. At tho conclusion of the lacing at Woodville Torchlight was sold, and he is now trained at Ellerslie. : The secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference has notified the parties concernea that the apped! of the Hamilton Racing CI lib against the decision of the Auckland District Committee in the Thrace incident will be held in Wellington on Friday, May 2. Prior to tlie Auckland meeting Mascot v> as working very Well on the- tracks, and her trainer fully expected hor to win a race at the meeting, but -the Auckland Cup winner l'nilwl badly. When racing in hack company, the Demosthenes filly Afterglow hardly came up to expectations, -'hut since joining open company she has won the Taranaki Cu,p, the Egmont Cup, ran second to Gloaming in the Wanganui Guineas, second to Star Lady in the Great Northem Oaks, and won the Great Northern St. Leger. During the C.J.C. meeting H. Gray did not succeed in riding a winner. The most successful jockey was 11. Young with four wins, and tlion came B, Deeley with three and C. Emerson with two. i It is understood that C. Emerson has severed his connection with the Yaldhurst stable, for which he has acted as first horseman for some time. H. Gray ! had the mount on Surveyor and Melee in their engagements on ihe second day of the Cantertftiry Jockey Club's meeting. The secretary of the Dunedin Jockey Club, Mr. H. L.
