ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHIONERS.
The annual meeting of the parishioners of St.'Mary's Church, Karori, took place on Wednesday right. Mr. James W. Henderson was vominated vicar's churchwarden and Mr. T. D. Bellett was re-elected people's 'churchwarden. The following parishioners w.ere elected to the vestry:—Messrs. Cook, Newcombe, Andrews, Skegg, Porter, A. G. Henderson, Dix, Cumming, Caldwell, Harper, and Holden.
The churchwardens' report stated that the general, offertories showed an increase of, i6U, but that owing to a dn-" crease,in thq special offertories the total income of the parish for the year was £27 less than for the preceding year. This falling-off was caused by tho discontinuance, on the signing of the armistice, of tho monthly offertories for Soldiers' Comforts Funds. The parishioners resident in the Makara cistriet were to be congratulated on' the success of their sustained efforts to build a new and permanent church. They had ths money in hand for this, and plans had been prepared by the diocesan architect, and it was hoped to begin the building immediately. The vestry expressed its deep grief at the great loss tl\e parish sustained in the deaths of Mr; Robert Caldwell, for many years one of its most active members, and of Mr. F. V. Waters, who was lay-reader and choirmaster for many years. After considerable discussion the meeting authorised the vestry to erect a parish hall, to be used for Sunday school and social purposes and to be a peace memorial.
