LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
. NOISY CAMPERS A SEATOUN COMPLAINT. Sir,—l trust; you will allow me space in .your esteemed paper to protest against Hie bclinviour of the Methodist delegates who have- during the liastrr holidays been encamped on Seatoun Park. The residents in the immediate vicinity of the park can, and do, appreciate lively music, in reason, but object to being kept awake by lusty choruses, countings out, hip-rats, and general rowdy proceedings carried on until the small hours of the morning. Friday and Saturday evenings were really bad enough, but Sunday just "licked creation." The worthy delegates, evidently not having time enough during daylight for games, played football uitil two o'clock on the Easter Monday morning, and the noise just beggared descrip-. lion. It is not difficult to rraheo the effect such proceedings would l.ave ouj>ne who is at present in a critical elate or health. It is to lie regretted the Methodist Young Men's Bible Class delegates to the Easter 1919 camp do not appear capable of conducting themselve&v ith that credit the society to which trfey belong is entitled to.—l am, etc./, J RESIDENT. April 22. . [We have made inquiries into the complaint made by our correspondent. From information obtained from it minister of the Methodist Church in Wellington, it appears tliaLthe "delegates" referred to in the letter were young men and boys attending Bible classes. Like other boys, they were high minted, and it is not denied that in 'their frolics they may have made some noise, but it is submitted that there was i:ot any noise deserving the nnmo of had behaviour. It is denied that they played football on Sunday night. They attended a meeting of a religious character, from which they were not released until after midnight. The story abant playing football after that is denied.' It is fnid that the boys did have a pillow-fight or some revel of that kind. Unfortunately, the chaplain who was in charge of I he camp, and who was present with the boys all the time, is at present in Christohnrch.J
