The Hon. G. W. Eussell left for Christchurch last night. He will be in the South Island for about a week. The Hon. A. M. Myers is returning to Wellington by the second express from Auckland to-day. Lieutenant-Colonel J. G. Boache, DSO Eeserve of Officers (temp.) has been attached'to the Adjutant-Generals department, and graded with pay and rank of major whilst employed as Director'of Base Records. Captain M. H. Oram, N.Z. Field Artillery, J Battery, has relinquished the appointment of deputy-director of Base Kecords. Dr. Hansen, principal of tW Southland Technical High School, was last night unanimously appointed director of the Christchurch Technical College, in succession to Mr. J. H. HowcU, who is taking charge of the Wellington lechmcal Coilege.-(Press Assn.) The'chairman of;the Wellington Harbour Board mentioned at last nights meeting that advice had been received or the'death on March 29, 1919, of James Tweedale Crawford, of the accountants department, who had been on active service in France since August 23, Mo. having left with the Eighth Reinforcements. Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Charles Gamble, Unattached List (b), General List, has relinquished "the appointment of camp paymaster, Feathereton Military Camp, and the temporary rank of capCaptKiu G. C. S. Dyer, N.Z. Staff ! Corps, has been appointed assistant a<l-_ jutant-seneral for the.Otago military district. The following illuminated address was presented to Mr. F. J. Burgess,,late h.M. and Warden at Thames, by members of the bar: "Upon your retirement trom the position of Stipendiary Magistrate and Warden of the Hanraki GoldheUls, 1 we, the members of the Uyal profession i practising in the Haurnki district, desire to record our appreciation ot your integrity, your sound judgment in all waiters coming Mote you, and your unfailing courtesy to the public and to the members of the legal profession. Wβ regret your retirement, and hope that with the consciousness of duty well and faithfully performed, and with the goodwill of those who have been associated ivilh you in the discharge of your judicial duties, you may enjoy many years of happiness." Eulogistic remarks were mafle by various speakers, and Mr. Biirgess was presented villi «■ tea and coffee service.
