. 1 DESIRE TO BE RECOGNISED AS FRIENDS. By Telegraph—Press Aisociation. Auckland, April 22. The'relation of Jugo-Slavs to tho War Regulations requiring them to undertake national service was discussed at a meeting of Jugo-Slavs held in Auckland on Monday. After a long discussion tho following resolution was adopted:—"ln view of the special conditions created by tho fact that special war legislation is still in force in New Zealand, this meeting strongly advises all Jugo-Slavs who have been or are being called up for national service to strictly comply with tho law, and to undertake national work at such placqs and under such conditions as tho New Zealand Government may direct. This meeting prays that war disabilities, so far as the Jugo-Slavs in New Zealand are ooncerned, may bo removed, and that w? he looked upon and treated as. friends and allies, and not considered as alien enemies. This meeting desires that the Jugo-Slavs in New Zealand should work unitedly, and that the newly-elected committee sliould remain in office at least 'tifT the new Jugo-Slav State is recognised by the Allies. This meeting directs .that it shall be the duty of the newlyeleoted committee to reserve and if possible strengthen its position as regards standing ajid recognition by the New Zealand Government, which the provisional committee has secured and is handing over ; to the-new committee. This meeting directs that the newy-elected committee and all sub-committees should work in concord with the authorities with the object of giving effect to the above resolution, and to assist both the commissioner and the men on national works, so as to establish a good understanding between the New Zealand authorities and the Jugo-Slavs in the Dominion." .
