SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

■ Every provision was made at tho Sailors' friend Society at Easter for the comfort of the men ashore, and they.availed themselves in large numbers of tho hospitality of friends of the society. On. Good Friday the men sat doivn to tea in the-afternoon, and at the song serTico'in the evening solos were contributed by Mesdames Walker, Child, and J. lewis, and Misses Mackin, M. Jones, and 'Weston, and Mr. Mead. Light refreshments were provided. IJaster Day's services were very hearty. The church had been seasonably decorated by the Misses M. luieff, Miller, and 3. Lewis. Mr. s Moore, missioner, was the preacher, and his subjects were:, "Easter Hopes" and "When tho Victory?" Mrs Good was at the organ, and Mr. Edjnauson took tho lessons. Madnni and Jliss Mueller were the soloists. A happy party of-men .sat down to tea in the afternoon. The hostesses wore Mesdames Nelson and Kebbell. There a very large attendance at the song-serjice in the evening. Mr. Funda assisted'at tho piano with the cornet. Good-bye was said to Mrs. Glover, a worker of years' standing, and a presentation was made to her. Light refreshments were handed round in an interval. On Easter Monday merriment went on the whole day. There w r as a country trip, sports, lunch, tea, supper, games, all of which were enjoyable to a degree. The following won prizes: Messrs. Barclay, Morris, Harding, Tombs, Sherman, Sole. Carroll, Souter, Amos, and the Misses Bignon, Lewis, and C'olpus. The concert given by Mrs. Henry Colpus in the evening was delightful, encores being insistent and frequent. The performors were: Mesdames Walker and Child, and Misses Mackin, May, Ormond, Peggy Jones, J. Lewis, and V. Mueller, and Messrs. N. do Camp, Cameron, Mend, and Carroll. Mrs. Walker was at the piano.
