SAILORS' EASTER PICNIC .The British and Foreign Sailors' Society, 'Post Ofiico Square, held their taster picnic on Monday. A largo number of seamen from the oversea and coastal vessels in port left the Post Office Square by special car for Miramar Park. The day was 6pent in carrying out a programme of sports, the majority of the prizes being won by the seamen s from the Athenic and Kaikoura. I here were also races for ladies and children. The party, returned to the Naval Boatjng Club,, jervois Quay, where the evening was spent in games, singing, recitations, ..find tho distribution oi prizes. On January 10, 1918 he was discharged from the Australian Forces, but sailed at once from Tasmania to New Zealand, where he arrived and enlisted on January 18.-1918, in the New Zealand Forces-a. remarkable record. For two months he'was guarding on Eipa Island. Lyttelton, : Count von Luckner; who had commanded the German raider Soeadler, which had sunk 21 ships., Goi w; to France in August. 191S, "Sarsfielu" took part in the last big push, and was gassed, but has now nearly quite re- '• covered.
