A cricket match between Wanganui and Mnnawatu was played at Palmerston North at tho week-end. In tho first innings Wangauut cumpiled, 165. Tho only lieavy"scorer was Heuli, with 56. The byes wero numerous, totalling 31. Ongley secured seven of the wickets at a cost of 70 runs, while Greer got two for 18.. Manawatu then batted to the tuiib of 121 runs, Tronson 22, Ongley 17. and G. Sallitt li being the highest scorers. The mpst successful trundler was Holland,jvho took four wickets for 1!> runs. In their second innings AVauganui wero nil disposed of'for 137 runs. The most succe.'sful batsmen wero Holland 38 and Burton 37. M'Viwir captured four wickets for 35, Ongley four for '18, and K. ICodder two for 26. Manawatu then went in and rattled up 15(i runs in good time, and with two men not out and four men to bat .they were just 25 runs behind their opponents, when on account ot Wanganui having' to leave earlier than, was anticipated, .the match was declared a dim.
